2007 Great Waters Folk Festival Songwriting Finalists
Great Waters Music Festival announces the five finalists for the upcoming 6th Annual FOLK Festival Songwriting Contest.
The winners are:
Emilia Dahlin (Portland, ME)
Rebecca Hall and Ken Anderson (West Townsend, VT)
Atoosa Salimi and Elana Arian (New York)
and Erik Balkey (Philadelphia)
As part of the 3-day FOLK Festival, the finalists will perform before a panel of judges on Saturday, August 4th from 1-2 p.m. at the Pinckney Boathouse. Later that evening, the winner will perform on the main stage at the acoustic tent and receive $500. The finalists were chosen on the basis of originality, lyrics and melody,
Previous winners are Craig Werth of Newmarket, New Hampshire and Robby Hecht of Nashville, Tennessee.
Great Waters Folk Festival will be held Friday, August 3 through Sunday, August 5th. This year’s multi-venue event will feature both well-known folk musicians from the United States and Canada as well as a sampling of some of New Hampshire’s up and coming artists.
The evening and Sunday morning performances will be in the Festival’s acoustic tent on the Brewster Academy campus. Saturday afternoon performances will be downtown at the Cate Park Bandstand, the Village Players Theatre and at Brewster Academy’s Pinckney Boathouse. An early evening, free-to-the-public performance will take place from 5 to 6:45 p.m. at the outdoor Lakeside Stage located between the Great Waters acoustic tent and Pinckney Boathouse.
All locations are within close walking distance. Molly the Trolley will be giving free rides between all venues to Folk Festival ticket holders, and Goodhue and Hawkins Navy Yard will provide a complimentary boat shuttle between the Pinckney Boathouse and the Wolfeboro Town Docks.
Individual tickets for evening performances range between $27 and $73; Saturday afternoon tickets cost $20 ($10 if purchased with an evening ticket). Folk Passes allow access to all performances over the three day festival. Passes range from $72 to $160. Performances at Cate Park and the Lakeside Stage are free to the public.
