GREAT WATERS MUSIC FESTIVAL SCHOLARSHIP

Supporting education in the arts has long been one of the major goals and activities of Great Waters Music Festival. Offering scholarships is another opportunity for Great Waters to promote music and music education in the Lakes Region.

“The Great Waters Scholarship Program was established in 2004 to provide financial assistance as well as the opportunity to participate in choral workshops and sing with a professional chorus and orchestra,” says Great Waters Music Festival Board Member and Education Chair, Kim Hunter. “In 2007 Great Waters awarded scholarships to nine local youths in the areas of vocal and violin performance, music management and music therapy studies.”

Great Waters Music Festival scholarship applications are accepted between January and May 1 each year from New Hampshire Lakes Region residents.

The Festival offers two types of scholarships.

High school, college or graduate students with an interest in pursuing a career in some facet of music education or performance qualify to apply for financial assistance. Financial assistance scholarship recipients are announced in June and honored at one of the Great Waters concerts.

Scholarships are also available for students of any age to participate in the annual summer Masterworks Festival Chorus.  Recipients attend choral and vocal workshops and rehearse with 100 other selected Eastern Seaboard singers and a professional orchestra in preparation for the annual Great Waters Masterworks concert.

The scholarship program is funded by a $1 per ticket fee as well as donations.

Applications and information may also be obtained by contacting the Great Waters office at (603) 569-7710, or by Emailing us at info@greatwaters.org.
