Great Waters Music Festival was founded in 1995 by Dr. Gerald Mack, Director of the Worcester Chorus and a former professor at the Hart School of Music, University of Hartford. The non-profit summer festival was organized to encompass a diversified program designed to appeal to a variety of musical tastes, both classical and popular, and to bring together outstanding amateur and professional musicians. Its purpose is to promote live musical performances including choral, symphonic, folk, pops, jazz, Broadway, dance, and renowned vocal and instrumental artists. For four years, the Festival's leadership derived primarily from its highly active Board of Directors and from the musical expertise of Dr. Gerald Mack. In addition, scores of community volunteers offered their support in acting as ushers and concert staff during the concert season. Realizing the increasing need for a permanent staff, the Board of Directors hired an Executive Director in the spring of 1999 and established a part time position for an Administrative Assistant. |

Celebrity stars Wynton Marsalis, Dave Brubeck, Ronan Tynan, Richie Havens, Canadian Brass, Sandy Duncan, Arlo Guthrie, Peter Nero, Natalie MacMaster, Chuck Mangione, Betty Buckley, Glenn Miller Orchestra, Lucie Arnaz, Suzanne Ishee, Mark Hardy, Judy Collins, Lee Bryant and Judy Gibson have all delighted sold-out audiences comprised of permanent and seasonal New Hampshire residents, vacationers, visitors and regional musicians of all ethnic and age groups. | |
| The year 2000 marked the induction of the Great Waters Music Festival's new acoustical performance pavilion, purchased following an extensive capital campaign and preparatory site work including the installation of underground drainage, electricity, road access, area lighting, and tent anchor points. Located on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee on the Brewster Academy grounds, the acoustic pavilion provides a quality musical experience with a seating capacity to accommodate the growing, enthusiastic audience that the Festival attracts. The pavilion is erected each season for eight to ten weeks and provides the festival with excellent sound quality, large stage, state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems and comfortable seating with no obstructions for 800 people. | ![]() |

Tax-deductible Contributions... What could be better than the thought of attending a Summer Music Concert, held on a beautiful lakeshore in a peaceful New England town? It is the mission of Great Waters Music Festival to create and produce outstanding and unique musical and educational events that appeal to a wide variety of tastes to enrich the cultural lives of those living and visiting the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. We've come a long way since that first classical presentation by the Worcester Chorus to an audience of 300 in a local church ten years ago. The festival has distinguished itself by combining an idyllic setting with a diverse range of impeccable concerts. A careful and sophisticated blend of tradition and innovation has resulted in rapid growth and popularity. With each year, the festival continues to build and grow, setting new ticket sales and inquiry records along the way. This year, our fifth in our acoustical performance pavilion, we'll delight upwards of 7,500 people with an exciting program. Non-profit music festivals like Great Waters cannot even come close to covering the costs involved through the sale of tickets. In fact, ticket sales cover less than one third of the costs each year. We work hard at controlling costs, signing sponsors and conducting other fund raising activities in order to maintain reasonable ticket prices so that everyone is able to attend and experience Great Waters. Thanks to your support, ticket prices have remained the same for the past four years! Throughout its history, the Great Waters Music Festival has relied on its audience and donors to help support performances and music education programs of the finest quality. There's no doubt about it, your support helps us present such high quality musical experiences. And for that, we cannot thank you enough. The Great Waters seed was planted, nurtured and is now flourishing because of the generosity of people like you, people who support causes that truly enhance our quality of Lakes Region life. So please, take a moment to complete a donor card and send it, with your generous contribution, to our Festival Office. As a reminder, for tax purposes, Great Waters is a qualified non-profit 501(c) (3) organization. Thank you so much for your generous help and we hope to see you this summer at the performance pavilion. |
